DisappointedThis is my 3rd Avent pump and I am very disapointed with the design changes. After having much trouble with a competator's pump with my first child, I purchased an Avent manual pump. It worked so well I got the double electric pump with my second child in 2011. When I was pregnant for my 3rd this past year, I wanted a new pump, but could only find the updated model. There are several changes that make this pump a poorly considered change from the previous model.
I get significantly less milk and more nipple soreness with this version of the pump than I did with my older model.
The revised disign includes smaller flanges that don't work well or fit well for me (and I have small breasts to begin with). The suction is less intense, but even so is painful because of the design of the flange. Also, with this model, I have very limited control of the suction. With the old model, suction was set manually by the user, then put on "cruise control" and continued at whatever pace / strength you set.
I do like the new bag design and the new bottle design. The entire package is light weight and easy to transport. But the actually function of the machine is horrible. I'm angry that I spent so much on a breast pump that I can't use, especially after having such good results with the previous models. I am back to using my 2-year-old electric pump and 3-year-old manual pump and both are holding up great so far.

A great pump for ebf babies!I bought this breast pump mainly because I love the way my baby was able to easily switch between breast & that occasional bottle when needed. I tried all the bottles on the market & this was definitely a keeper since she had no problems latching on right away. I love that I can just pump directly into the bottle & not have to stress about spilled milk or leaving any important nutrients behind in a bottle that you have to transfer the milk out of. I love that I can sit back & relax & not have to lean forward to pump. This pump is really so comfortable & easy to use. There are 3 options for the suction & a button for when your milk lets down. It's enough suction for me, my milk is established & I pump about 5 oz. in about 3-5 minutes, depending on whether my breasts are full. If they are full I pump an average of 8 oz. I honestly feel since this pump has the petals on the shield I really do feel my breasts empty in sort of the same manner as when I breastfeed my baby. Overall this is a great breast pump & the only reason I didn't give it the 5 stars cause unfortunately it does not have a battery compartment which I would have loved it to have.
*** A tip for any mom who is having trouble finding a bottle for that very picky breastfed baby. Stick to the same bottle that you would like to use because it can take baby 2-3 weeks to get the hang of it.

Quick, Quiet and ComfortableAs a mom of 4 I’ve used several various pumps over the years and to be honest, pumping can be a pain. It’s hard to find the time if you’re working or have other kids and some other pumps are slow or even hurt. Fortunately, The Philips Advent Double Electric Breast Pump turned out to be a great little pump. It’s small size and travel bag make it easy to transport and store, plus it’s super quiet. Personally, I feel that it allowed me to express a significant amount of milk over a relatively short period of time. My favorite feature however, is the addition of the comfort inserts that go into the flanges and act as cushioning between your breast and the flange itself. This is unique in my experience and I’m definitely a fan! My son didn’t take to well to the provided bottles and nipples, but I suspect that had more to do with the fact that he drinks directly from the breast the vast majority of the time and he was being fussy to protest the initial change. Overall, I feel confident in recommending the Philips Advent Double Electric Breast Pump to other moms looking for a quick, comfortable and quiet way of pumping milk for their little ones.

Awesome! 2 Babies...working momI cant say enough about this pump. I have 2 children born 4 years apart...breast fed both for 12 months each. Used the same pump with both kids. I am a working mom who pumped at least 2 times a day. My pump has held up great! Only had to replace the membranes 3 times. I am so happy with the investment in this pump. Poor replacement for the Isis IQ DuoI had the Isis IQ DUO and loved that pump. I was able to customize it to my exact timing and pressure. It broke and I was forced to run out and get the only available pump in the shop - the Comfort Double.
This pump is loud. I use the pump at work and there is nothing discreet about this pump. I have tried hiding it in a drawer, stuffed with towels and it still can be heard across my small office building.
There are preset speeds and pressures that just don't work for me. There are three pumping settings and one let-down triggering setting. The pumping settings are all the same timing - approximately 2 seconds of pressure with a half second of a break - but at different suction pressures. There is no option to change the timing so not great if this designed setting isn't optimal for you.
The plus side is that they have re-designed the horn so that you no longer have to sit hunched over to allow the milk to drain into the bottle. All the parts are BPA free as well.
In summary, this pump was such a disappointment as compared to the previous model. It's loud and the pre-set pump speed/pressure options are limited.

It gets the job done.I like this pump overall. It's easy to use, expresses milk efficiently, and is kinder on the breasts when compared to Ameda. There are a few things that would be awesome upgrades for the next model: 1. make it quieter (it is so noisy and embarrassing when I have to pump in public#; 2. make it so women can choose to pump the right, left, or both breasts #currently there is only the option of pumping both#; and 3. have it come with larger collection bottles #currently I have to stop halfway through pumping to empty the bottle so I can continue pumping, which can get a little messy).

Lightweight and easy to transportThis pump was much lighter weight than other ones I had tried so very easy to transport around the house or in the car.
Compared with others its great that you don't have to hunch over to let the milk flow into the bottle - what a relief!
The fact that its BPA free is a huge plus as well.
Only change I would recommend to the brand is to have different sizes available for flanges - every woman is different and to have ranges would definitely help.

Low suction, poor qualityI have been using the Comfort Double Electric Pump for almost 7 months. I bought this pump because reviews suggested that it was the most comfortable pump on the market and since it is a closed system, there was little to no chance of milk getting in parts that it isn’t supposed to get into. I have to agree that this pump is comfortable (I do only have one other pump to compare it to, but this pump is MUCH better). However, I have had some issues with my pump. I am currently on my third pump and just today had to place an order for replacement parts AGAIN. I was told today by the CSR that these pump pieces (specifically the valves) typically only last 3 months. She said that 90% of people have to have parts replaced on this time table. I am a first time mom but this seems a little crazy considering breastfeeding is recommended for 4 X’s this length of time! The customer service people have always been very kind and willing to send me new pumps and new pieces, but I worry about when we have a second child and the pump is no longer under warranty. While comfort is a huge benefit to a pump, unfortunately hands free pumping is also not an option for me with this particular pump. This pump has to be held firmly against you in order to maintain suction. Even then the suction isn’t that strong, especially if you have it for more than a month or two. I have been left with clogged and unemptied ducts on multiple occasions and had to leave work so I go nurse my LO so I wouldn’t get sick. The pump was supposed to help me go back to work full time but that doesn’t seem to be the case. I know if I could do this all over again, unfortunately I would not buy this pump.
