Troubleshooting

White smoke comes out of my Philips Airfryer

There can be several reasons why white smoke comes from your Philips Airfryer. Please find out here how we can help you.

Food with high fat content has been used

Please stop cooking and use a whole handful of kitchen paper to soak up the oil on the bottom of the pan or pour off any excess oil. After that you can continue cooking.

Please note that white smoke does not harm your Philips Airfryer or the result.

Tip:
If you frequently cook food with a high fat content, you can use:
A snack cover, for Airfryer model HD924x, or
A splatter-proof lid, for HD962x or HD964x or
*A variety basket, for HD921x, HD922x, HD923x or HD953x to prevent smoke
You can find the model number on a sticker at the bottom of your Airfryer.

The fat reducer is not in the pan while cooking fatty ingredients

If your Airfryer came with a fat reducer accessory, you should always use it while cooking with fatty ingredients. This fat reducer accessory will prevent the formation of white smoke.

If you forget to put the fat reducer in your Airfryer before you start to cook, place the fat reducer in the pan and then continue cooking.

The pan still contains greasy residues from previous use

Greasy residues from previous use can cause white smoke coming from your Airfryer.

Please stop cooking and carefully remove any residues from the pan.

To prevent this from happening, the pan, basket and heating element must be cleaned thoroughly after every use.

Breading or coating did not adhere properly to the food

Thin pieces of breading can cause white smoke. Firmly press breading or coating to food to ensure it sticks to the food.

Light ingredients are sucked into the heating element (in the inside upper area of your Airfryer)

Due to the strong airflow, light ingredients (like a slice of toast, vegetable or fruit chips) may get to the heating element of your Philips Airfryer. Please remove the food from the heating element after the appliance cooled down.

Tip:
To prevent smoke when cooking light ingredients you can use:
A snack cover for Airfryer model HD924x (you can also use this cover for Airfryer models HD963x and HD965x even though it will be smaller than the basket), or
A splatter-proof lid, for HD962x or HD964x, or
*A variety basket, for HD921x, HD922x, HD923x and HD953x.
You can find the model number of your Airfryer on a sticker at the bottom of the appliance.
