The lights on my Philips Lumea are blinking

    Published on 18 October 2024

The lights on your Philips Lumea may blink to provide you with important information. The most common ones are:

    • Ready-to-flash light is blinking and is orange
    • Intensity lights and ready-to-flash are blinking
    • Intensity lights blink simultaneously
    • Intensity lights are blinking back and forward from 1 to 5
    • Intensity 1 light is blinking/Lumea reverts to intensity 1

Read on to find out what to do in these scenarios.

The area of your skin you are treating is too dark and the device is preventing you from flashing to protect you from harm. This can also happen after you have tanned.

Lumea might not be suitable for your skin tone. Check the skin tone table in your user manual (which is also available online) to find out if Lumea is suitable for you.

The device has entered error mode and needs to be reset. Turn off and unplug your Lumea. Allow it to cool and clean it before resuming treatment.

For the following Lumea models: BRI87X, BRI90X, BRI91X, BRI93X, BRI94X, BRI95X, BRI97X, BRI98X, BRI99X, BRP958: The attachment is not attached properly or electronic contacts on the attachment are not clean.

Make sure you attach the attachment completely. If necessary, clean the electronic contacts on the attachment. Try a different attachment if the problem persists.

For the following Lumea models: BRI92X, SC199X: The device has entered error mode and needs to be reset. Turn off and unplug your Lumea. Allow it to cool and clean it before resuming treatment.

This means an integrated safety feature is preventing your device from flashing before the temperature becomes too high and potentially harmful.

This is normal behaviour of the device. Let your Lumea cool down with the fan on. After cooling down, your Lumea will be ready to use again. Use your Lumea in a cool environment and take breaks during treatments.

The attachment is not attached properly or electronic contacts on the attachment are not clean.

Make sure you attach the attachment completely. If necessary, clean the electronic contacts on the attachment. Try a different attachment if the problem persists.
