Close and comfortable shave
The series 9000 shaver provides a surprisingly close shave, closer than any other electric shaver I have used in the past. I also have quite sensitive skin and have experienced no irritation when using the 9000 shaver.
It is very user-friendly and comes with a nice travel case, as well as a precision trimmer; this is very useful for edging. However, it doesn't cut as close as the actual shaver head. As it says on the box, it works best with shorter hair 1-3 day growth. I found that if the hairs were too long, the shaver would struggle to lift and cut it.
The shaver can be used as a wet or dry shaver which is very useful if you wish to shave in the shower. Personally, I prefer to use it dry. It also has a lock function, so it doesn't start up when you're traveling around. The battery lasts for a long time, also charges pretty quickly. It would be nice if the shaver came with some sort of stand to house it and the attachments.
Overall it is a great electric shaver, the best I have used regarding closeness and comfort. I would not go back to traditional wet shaving with a razor as it irritates my skin, the series 9000 also cuts much closer than my other electric shaver does. I would recommend this product. Excellent results from a quick shave
Been using this shaver for a few weeks and so far I am pleased with the results. The shaver is well designed and feels comfortable to use. It is very quiet and almost gives a sense that it is not fully charged however the battery meter does give an indication of battery life remaining. The charging time is minimal and after a few weeks of daily use the battery meter is still on 3 out of 3 bars.
It is important that you read the manual before using this shaver with regards to how to use especially with regards to head changing (which I found fiddly for the first time, but easy once you know how to do it) and also circular shaving motions to get the great results.
I use the shaver daily and the trimmer weekly both attachments give great results quickly, a close shave and a neat outcome every time.
Cleaning is easy, a simple rinse under the tap of the blades is all that is required, this is again laid out step-by-step in the manual.
Although I prefer a trimmer function built into the unit, the changing of heads is effortless. The only negative issue that I have experienced is that you do have to be careful with the blades as there is no head cover included with this razor.
To summarise a great product which surpassed my prior expectations in all areas with the exception of a head cover which is slightly disappointing. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

At last I have found the nearly perfect shaver!
I'm a bit of a tech geek. I have several shavers from other manufacturers as well as three other Philips rotary models. I think I have found shaver nirvana - well I'm pretty close anyway.
The 9000 series gives me a very close shave - the closest to a blade wet shave even when I use it dry - which is most of the time. ALL my other shavers leave parts of my face rough where the blades can't remove the hairs very well - each shaver seems to have problems with a different area of my face. The Philips 9000, however, misses nothing. Smooth shave all over. I love the motor - it's definitely a better class of motor. You can tell when you switch it on or off - that very slight delay like a clutch kicking in before the motor starts. I may be sad, but I love that feel. It's extremely quiet too. A thoroughly classy beast - but there again it ought to be given the price!
The one downside is that you have to clean the head by running it under the tap. No problem doing that, but the next day the head is still damp, however well you shake it and this means it doesn't quite glide over your face as smoothly as a bone dry shaver would. I'd say it's a small design flaw with the new style heads.
It's worth buying a can of Philips shaver cleaner - unless you have the model with the cleaning tank accessory. Good to use the spray once a week to keep your shaver in tip-top condition.

Having used foil shavers for over 15 years I decided to give rotary a go. Most online reviews advocate the use of foil but I was curious about a rotary. This is my first rotary.
* I shave either every day or every other day
* My stubble is medium thickness and fast growing
* I have a sensitive neck
My first shave was good but not great and I was concerned I’d made a mistake with this purchase. However having read other reviews here, I decided I must give it another go.
I changed my technique slightly and now it is a dream. I cannot believe how close this shaver gets. I can honestly say that I feel like this is as close as a wet shave, but without the irritation.
It is far quieter than the foil shavers I’d had before but achieves a shave I’d never experienced with an electric shaver.
I shave wet using a cream and feel that gets the best result for me. I would say that I don’t get a perfect finish on my sideburns or tight under my nose. I’m so impressed with the performance on my jawline and neck.
I can wholeheartedly recommend this shaver.

This product replaced my previous braun shaver and was bought as the top of its class unfortunately i would only give it a c+ at the moment. It seems very slow and does not give anywhere near the promised close shave. If i want a really goid shave then its back to my trusty Wilkinson sword 5 blade. I have just taken all the blades out and gave it a thorough clean throughout and it seems as though the blades are running quicker. Still nowhere near as close as wet shave.

Great features but potential not achieved
I've used Philips (even when I lived in the USA) shavers for about 40 years. I bought this one December 2017 as part of a Christmas gift from family. It has never been the same level as my previous RQ1280/22 which is actually still performing well even after 4 or 5 years although obviously it's a bit blunt! I don't need to shave every day thankfully but I need to use this one wet even for my lack of growth. A disappointing performance.
The main problem is that the head keeps falling off as I shave which is very annoying. I hardly use the trimmer so you can't blame constant changing for that. To be a bit light hearted about it, I've got to make sure everything is closed up in the bathroom when I do shave!
Is there a fix for this at all?

Came back after lured away by foil shaver
Have used Phillishave before but afraid I was lured away by a top of the range foil shaver. Sadly it did not do the job for me, the shaves were not close and despite shaving longer the results were disappointing. I returned to Phillishave and purchased the new 9000 series. The rotary heads get a really close and it's the nearest thing to a good wet shave.
The niggles are few. I don't like the picture only instruction book and the seperate trimmer. I would have opted for the top of the range model but that seemed to come with a beard trimmer, and I don't have a beard. I was also amazed by the significant variation in prices with different retailers.

A really comfortable shave. Usually I get razor burn if I use electric razors to get close, this hasn’t happened with this razor. The Heads give a comfortable and very close shave, comparable on my skin to a wet shave. The heads are easy to clean under the tap. I’m really satisfied.
The only problem I had was inserting the power cord into the cleaning unit, it wouldn’t go in. I rang Phillips help line who explained it needed to be inserted at a 45 degree angle, problem solved and thank you Phillips help line.
I haven’t had a wet shave since buying this razor!
