My Philips Steam generator leaks when I turn it on

If your Philips Steam generator is leaking when you switch it on, there might be a simple solution. Discover how to solve it yourself.

Step 1.

Make sure the steam lock is not engaged.

See the pictures showing where the steam lock is located on the iron (circled in red).

Step 2.

After switching on the power, wait for 2 to 8 minutes before pressing the steam trigger.

Step 3.

Before ironing your garment, you should always start by steaming a piece of cloth. Only start ironing your garment when there are no more water droplets.

This step is only necessary upon first use or when you have not used your appliance in a while. When water has condensed inside the steam supply hose when cooling down.
