Comfortable shaveMy current shaver is twin blade Philips battery powered shaver. I use it every alternate day to clear facial hair on my chin and above my upper lip. I always opt for a clean shave.
The series 5000 looks impressive and well built. Feels good in my L size hands. After a 1 hour charge, it's ready to go. Turning on, the sounded more robust compare to the loud buzz from the old twin blade. The 5000 has triple blade and flexi neck which contours nicely along my face, very comfortable indeed. I didn't feel much difference in speed probably due the fact that I didn't have much facial hair.
After shave was amazing, to red rash compared to the old twin blade which uses "lift and cut". Rise under a tap was easy with some remains left. A little brush would help.
Nose trimmer - my first time using. No discomfort and result was pretty good. No more stay hair sticking out of my nose.
Side trimmer - I haven't got any side burn to try
Overall, I felt the shave did its job. Well built. Weighing less than 200g, it's suitable for travel. A travel case would be nice. However, do not use the shaver in car or anywhere outside toilet. Bits of hair do fall off the shaver during use. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Great wet shaver for everyday usePhilips S5572/10
Quite big for guys with small hands.
Looks premium but not as premium as it supposed to since it carries a hefty price tag.
End results were great, the skin feels silky smooth, maybe it is due to its new blades but time will tell on blades durability.
Shaving is quite tricky on the jaw bone part as it is hard to work it circularly, but if you could somehow work it out in the area, then the outcome is a smooth skin without any abrasion to skin.
Sound/noise is fine, I would say within the bearable limits. The turbo mode might sound a bit on a higher decibel but that’s proportional to the speed it turns.
Cleaning the blades and replacing the heads is easy peezy. Just lift and you are ready to switch to a new head, this makes less cumbersome for people who don’t know how to use or interchange heads in the previous versions.
Ergonomic feel while holding is quite awkward for me, I am not sure about others, but for me, I have to change my hands position quite a few times to adjust to suit my face contour.
The battery is sufficient for 4 to 5 shaves afterward it loses speed and starts to pull hair apart rather than cutting and this is a result of reduced speed. But can’t complain as 4 to 5 shaves is ample for a cordless shaver.
Nose hair trimming head is quite nifty, I have used this module before. Have to use it a couple of times to get the hang of it. Trimming head serves it purpose, great for trimming sideburns.
Overall Philips S5572/10 is an excellent tool for a wet shave but needs work on ergonomic feel and built quality. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Lift and cut system has not improvedI have own Phillips shavers for 15 years now
My first portable one and my favourite was the
Series 3000 with lift and cut and it cut great. Or course things wear out eventually.
So I decided to go upmarket to keep the lift and cut system when I went to the shop and bought the RQ1160 sensotouch shaver. The first I owned iwth lithium battery and no mains shaving however it was the worst shave I had ever had. After losing a blade I decided it was time to upgrade again.
I regret taking the salesman's advise I bought the series 5550 shaver with turbo mode which I was supposed to give a better shave.
I don't have a thick beard just dark unrully hair and this shaver did no better even tho it was called lift and cut pro.
I was curious to the blade design as all these shavers delivered the same shaver speed
So I did a blade count
I found the old Senso touch and 5000 had the same blade count.
9 blades on each rotor
Then I check my old faithful it had 16 lift an cut blade on each rotor sorry Phillips i don't see the improvements.
But I still need a good shaver for my needs Phillips please help

First time using an electric razorFirst, lets get to the packaging. The box looks like any typical electrical razor box, with nothing really for it to stand out on a retail shelf. Upon unboxing, the razor, charger and the accessories are nicely placed within a cardboard tray.
The first thing I did is to try and switch it on. It however gave a blinking led on the razor, indicating that it needs to be charged which is a nice feature as opposed to no indication and I could be wondering if the razor is functioning or not. I then connected the charger and start it charging.
I left it charging for 2 hours and it seems to be fully charged now.
I had never ever used an electric razor ever before, and had been using a cartridge razor and tweezer all my life. So, while the electric razor is definitely doing its job, it doesn't seem to be giving me the close smooth shave that I'm expecting (but that could due to my over-expectation of the product).
However, I'l give it the benefit of the doubt and I'll let my beard grow out for a couple of days before giving this a try again. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Impressive ProductI have not used an electric shaver for the longest time, the first one I had was 8+ years ago and was unsatisfactory and I have been using a razor ever since. I have always perceived that electric shavers do not provide a close shave, leave nasty aftershave irritations, need to replace batteries constantly and are difficult to clean and maintain. However, this product changed my perception entirely!
Firstly, it is sleek, ergonomic and has contoured grips. Light as well and fits comfortably on my hand. It is made in the Netherlands, which just reassures me of the quality of the product as compared to other shavers which are made in China or Taiwan.
It also provides a close shave and best part of all, it does not leave behind any redness or irritations, very gentle on the skin. Not as noisy as I would expect as well. I used it continuously for about a week and a half before I had to replace the battery - indeed the battery lasts for at least 50 minutes and is true to the advertising claim! I shave twice a day.
I loved the attachments for sideburns and nosehair trimmer, it was a splendid add-on and worked well! These attachments made the product more well-rounded and I dont have buy other additional products to trim my nose hairs or sideburn.
It was very easy to clean the product, just need to rinse under tap and most of the particles will be removed. However, I would recommend using a small brush to clean it completely for hygiene purposes - still effortless neverthless!
Overall, I highly recommend this product as it completely changes my perception towards electric shavers and would be glad to continue using it from now on! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Frequent userFirstly i'll comment whats written on the box. Clean & close - it does gives me a close shave. I wont feel/see any more facial hair after use. Thats a 5star but then again im not a hairy person.
Fast Shave - Not so accurate as i still have to repeatedly shave at same spot in circular movement for few times. They have a turbo function that rotates the blade faster which i've not try yet. Even if the turbo function meant for fast shave, i should not be using that mode all the time. As the box stated Fast Shave, it should be doing that on a normal mode. And again im not a hairy person.
The sound coming out from the shaver probably the softest shaver i've ever used. There are models out there that was loud even scare my 4yr old boy away.
The handle was just nice to grip and its very easy to take out and switch the head from shaver to trimmer or nose trimmer.
The nose trimmer works well even when i've a runny nose when its wet inside. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Slowly but surelySo how do I felt when i first saw the Philips S5550/44 electric shaver? Well, I was thinking, is it that huge? upon opening the package, I realised that the no space was saved for the protection of this small but handy shaver. The shaver and its accessories that come with it are neatly placed and every single item is clearly shown to you.
First usage was a bit clumsy for me as this is the first time using a 3-rotor shaver. I didn't get a clean shave as I would get from a manual blade or from a 2-rotor electric shaver. despite these disappointments from the first few days of trying, I maintain my strong faith of Philips products and decided to take more notice of how i uses this shaver. Changing the handling of how i move the rotor-blades around the contour of my face, i finally gets the clean shave the shaver promised on the box!. Yes, it had taken a slight longer time to get that clean shaved face as compared to using a blade, it also took a slightly longer time compared to the 2-rotor-blade shaver that i carried for my travel, but i get all these done on a 3-rotor-blade Philips Shaver plus no irritation at all after a shave. I am impressed. no cuts, no irritation, just a smooth clean well shaved face!
Cleaning this baby was a breeze, pressed the released-button to un-catch the blades from the rotors, runs thes under running water, and it is all it takes to clear out the residue. closed back the rotors and give a couples of hard shakes and leave the shave to dry on it's own. No brushing or whatsoever as required on my 2-rotor-blades shaver, no ensuring that the water is running between the blades to clean the hairs between the blade of a manual shaver.
Overall, after a week of playing and trying out this 5550, i am happy to have found something that i can carry with me in my bag wherever i go. It is 3-4 times the size of my travel-shaver, almost 10 times the size of a manual shaver, but the convenient it provides and the feelings it left behind made it a good companion.
