Most of the reviews are overly critical... for a good value price, this TV works adequately for everyday simple viewing pleasure. A great step up from an older generation boom box bulky TV.

If you are looking for a watch and listen TV, this is so far the affordable alternatives. By looking at the price, you should not be expecting a SMART TV with a lot of features plus fantastic images and sound. If you are, you should be looking somewhere else. This TV does come with a SMART brain out of the TV box. An Android box is provided to "upgrade" to a SMART TV.

I bought this tv as i loved the design and size. The picture is clear and looked great. However i noticed that ever time i turned on the tv or changed source the dynamic contrast would turn itself on every time. Looking at the setting on tv it was shown as off but toggle it on and off again it would actually turn the feature. I have tried to get this fixed from support but to no avail there is no software currently available to fix. Other people have had the same issue. It is very annoying so unless you want to keep turning this off everytime you change source or turn the tv on then do not buy.

1 horizontal black line appeared on the 25th month of use. Still within the 36 months of warranty period, will check for repair procedures

One of the cheapest model in the market. The screen is very clear because of 1920x1080p resolution. Colour is average. Cannot get digital channels after trying several times to do channel scan using Funke digital aerial which works well with another digital setup box. Can get analogue channels through the standard TV aerial socket by SCV

Initially was quite happy with this TVbut lately, the DVB-T2 tuner began to act up and lose some channels that were earlier scanned and saved. Most recently, the tuner died and can no longer detect any digital nor analog channels. Then again, other failures started to follow - now the USB player and HDMI shows picture but NO sound. Wonder what's going to go Kaput next! Disappointed, since this is my 2nd Philips TV (1st digital tv bought a year earlier in 2014 - still works and is also subjected to light usage)

I don't recommend this product the clarity is worst.

The reason for buying this TV is just to play my ps4 games and it advertised saying that is 100Hz when i was doing the settings for TV i was shocked that the picture mode did not have game mode and when i was playing games the picture quality is dull even my old plasma TV pictures was better i seriously regret buying this TV to fix this problem they need to put game mode in the next software update

TV is adequate as a bedroom TV due to small viewing angles of a VA type panel, not recommended for living room. Has plenty of features packed in. However, there is a fatal bug in it's firmware which is why it has earned only 1 star in performance and ease of use and 2 stars taken from overall rating, and since it has no firmware updates available, there is no fix. There is a bug in the firmware of this TV 40PFT5100/98 that turns Dynamic Contrast back ON after the setting has been set to OFF. Despite the setting continue to show it as OFF, whenever the TV is turned on, or the source is switched, Dynamic Contrast is automatically turned ON. This results in horrible picture quality because the user can no longer manually adjust the picture, and is very tedious as the user has to go into settings to turn Dynamic Contrast back to ON and then to OFF again every single time he turns on the TV to watch, or multiple times in a watching session if he is switching sources to watch different channels from different HDMI inputs. This is a terrible oversight to let such a bug slip through, a bug which negatively impact the user's viewing pleasure and not to mention a huge inconvenience to have to repeatedly reset a setting on every single use of the TV.
