My Philips Fan produces a strange smell

    Published on 27 April 2025
If your Philips Tower Fan emits a strange smell, find possible causes and solutions below.

There is a plastic smell during the first use

The first few times you use your appliance, you may smell a plastic scent — this is normal for new appliances. However, if the fan produces a burnt smell, turn it off, unplug it from the wall socket and contact us for further assistance.

The aroma pad needs to be replaced (applied to CX 1520 and CX5535 only)

The information below only applies to models CX1520 and CX5535.

Your tower fan is equipped with an aroma diffuser to use with essential oil. The scent of essential oil could change or become weaker after applying it for a while. Please replace it with a clean aroma pad.

If the solutions above do not help, contact us for further assistance.

The information on this page applies to the following models: CX5535/11 .
