Philips Saeco XelsisSuper-automatic espresso machine

I have had this machine for over 3 years and brewed well over 4000 coffees. From Expressos to Cappuccinos perfect every time.

We got this machine for Father's Day last year. We've made 1100 coffees with it, so within 6 months, that's $4000 or so that we'd have previously been spending at cafés. Took us a week of tweaking, but makes fabulous tasting coffee - and coming from Melbourne, I have high expectations. We've found Merlo Private Blend to be our favourite beans, very smooth. My fiancé and I both drink lattes. We don't use the "one button" operation as, when you press "latte", you have milk put in the cup first, then the espresso. It leaves two distinct layers of milk and coffee, so needs stirring (I've read this is how Italians make their coffee, so why the machine works this way). I press double espresso, then milk. My partner has the same double shot then milk, but has his shots tweaked to be slightly stronger than mine. I zap my latte for 10 seconds in the microwave afterwards, but he's happy with the temp it's made at. Easy to clean. Descaling made a huge difference to coffee flavour at 500 cups. Had to have a temperature regulator replaced after 2 weeks when it failed (all under warranty). No problems since, and our machine definitely gets a workout.

We have now had the Phillips Xelsis espresso machine for 6 months and I have to say it is the best we have ever had. We have had many machines in the past but for ease of use especially this is the best. Brews fantastic full flavoured espresso no matter what bean we use. Never looked back. Thanks for a great product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was a little nervous almost 5 years ago when I invested in this machine. My husband and I have no regrets. We are so spoiled that we won’t even drink coffee any place but home from this machine. We purchase organic beans and have adjusted the settings to each of our preferences. We have friends that visit and I’ve set the machine up with there names and there preferences as well. I love having our names in the machine and just start the machine get your name on the screen and push the button. Ta Da!!! A fantastic cup of coffee!!! I love the maintenance settings also making all the machine maintenance a total breeze. Like anything that’s new I was a little nervous the first couple times I did the maintenance but once you do it and see everything it’s very easy. I love that the screen prints out telling you everything that needs to be done. I Love It!!! The only thing I don’t like is to make a MUG of American coffee it want to grind beans twice and that’s such a waste so I just learned to adjust the settings on the coffeelatte and came out with my perfect mug of American coffee. Very Good Investment and the best coffee ever! Thank You Saeco!

This machine is very technologically advanced, it tells you everything, from how you make what you need to drink, to what you need to maintain it. I have only exceptional drinks.

I've had a Saeco coffee machine for over 15 years and upgraded from the Royal to this model. This machine is pretty easy to use and you can customise your milk, coffee strengths, etc. Using the milk container and pre-set buttons makes it very easy to have that perfect coffee ready quickly!

I have been using the Saeco for the past two months and have found it easy to use, although I prefer my coffee, hotter than the machine produces, unless someone knows of a simple way to ensure the coffee is hotter on dispensing. Excellent machine otherwise and certainly does a good job

This is an excellent machine and makes great coffee. If you are considering it, save some money by buying the non-fingerprint reader version. It takes longer for it to recognise the fingerprints than it does to scroll through users using the touch buttons. The capacity for water could be greater (a plumbed in version would be excellent!) and the drip tray fills quickly if you allow it to rinse each time. Other than that, once you get it's brewing set to your liking, it's very repeatable and makes great coffee. Lots of drink options. I'm very pleased with it and would buy it again (without the fingerprint reader).
