If you get into descale menu you cannot get out unless your milk carafe is connected. The milk carafe falls into disuse since it is actually a pig to keep clean. Since you have the steam wand you will tend to use the steam wand. If you mislay your carafe you essentially brick your coffee machine since it will not exit the descaling menu using ESC, it will only want to crash forward with the descaling. It will not finish the descaling without the carafe attached. If you turn the power off then on it goes back to the descaling menu past any point of backing out. A new milk carafe will cost $200.

I've owned my Exprelia for 4 1/2 years and its been a fantastic machine. The long coffees and lattes taste wonderful, with a quality that rivals the coffee houses. After so many years of dependability the machine died. Considering the expense (initial purchase and maintenance cost), I'm disappointed that I didn't get more years of service before coming to this point. However, I've been completely lost without my machine after just a few days and that is no exaggeration. I've shipped the machine off to a repair shop with high hopes it can be fixed. If it cannot, I've already conceded I will be purchasing another Saeco machine. Some things in life are just too important to go without and for me, its my incredible morning coffees.

This Exprelia does it all with ease and in just a few minutes you have the brew of your choice. The machine is extremely easy to use and clean. The quality of the brew matches and exceeds any coffee house.

I took the plunge on the Exprelia when it first came out on the market. It is a wonderful machine with easy 1-touch cappuccino and cafe' lungo. If you want the coffee to be a little hotter, just warm the mug ahead of time. I pour the creme at the bottom of the mug before hitting the Cafe Lungo button so the crema at the top is kept in tact. My only gripe is how often I need to refill the water with distilled water. However, I guess I am enjoying it too much...

After researching many super-automatic espresso machines, I saw a review for the Exprelia and was convinced. Many of the super-automatic milk systems are average at best and don't provide a firm, frothy finish. This machine does and so much more. It is adjustable in all sorts of ways from grind consistency, strength, temperature, and more. With the push of a button, you can leave the machine to make your coffee perfectly without having to attend to it at all. So convenient and beautiful as well. LOVE IT!

It's probably not overrated enough. It's features are great. It makes the best Espresso/Cappuccino I've ever had. Simple to use. Simple to operate once reading the instructions and getting to know the machine.

Superior coffe experience, great coffe including the specials (latte, capuccino, etc) too bad I could not take it with me on my trips.

We are amazed by this machine: the quality of materials used, the well-thought out engineering and, of course, the final product - the espresso or latte or whatever type of coffee drink that can be chosen with the push of one button. The machine fits easily on our kitchen counter, large but without looking clumsy as so many espresso makers look. What a joy!
