3D playback
BD-Live
Full HD 3D provides the illusion of depth for a heightened, realistic cinema viewing experience at home. Separate images for the left and right eyes are recorded in 1920 x 1080 full HD quality and alternately played on screen at a high speed. By watching these images through special glasses that are timed to open and close the left and right lenses in synchronization with the alternating images, the full-HD 3D viewing experience is created.

Slow and unresponsive
The Philip BDP3380 was purchased based on a recommendation of a major Australian electrical retailer and was suitably connected to our LG Plasma HD television using HDMI. The design is okay with the usual display, front USB port, disc tray located on the front. However the function buttons (play, pause, eject, etc) are located on the top edge of the device and are quite small, the printed graphic symbols hard to discern on the device. The device is DLNA compatible and, therefore, can be connected to a home network/media server. Connected to the internet it also features Youtube and Picasa applications (the Youtube app allows the device to connect to any PC/tablet/smartphone). However... The Philips player is slow to power up and slow to access the "Home" menus. Navigating via the remote is painfully frustrating. The unit also becomes completely unresponsive when it randomly goes into Standby mode after being left unattended. Use of the remote control or power button does not work and the only way to turn the unit back on is to turn it off and on again.... It appears that this is not uncommon among the Philips 3000 series players as any search on Google will reveal consumers suffering the same issue.
