Philips contributes to new Heart of Australia truck to increase access to care for regional and remote communities

In a country the size of Australia, where the population is dispersed, it can be challenging to deliver care to regional and remote communities. As a global organisation that is focused on delivering the right care in the right place at the right time, Philips is proud to have collaborated with Heart of Australia to deliver a new ‘clinic on wheels’.

Heart of Australia recently unveiled HEART2 – a 26 metre truck – soon to begin its journey to provide specialist medical diagnosis and treatment to patients in regional communities in Queensland, Australia.

This is the second vehicle for Heart of Australia and it will be fitted with Philips healthcare solutions enabling the Heart of Australia program to reach more Australians in need of specialist care. The specialist equipment includes a defibrillators, an ECG machine, a patient monitoring system, an ultrasound, and Lumify - a handheld portable multi-system ultrasound device.

Access to specialist care is a huge barrier facing many Australians across our regional communities. At Philips, we are thrilled to be collaborating with Heart of Australia to continue to transform the delivery of specialist care

Matt Moran

Managing Director for Philips Australia and New Zealand

“Heart of Australia was established in 2014 and has since driven more than 150,000 km to treat thousands of patients who may have otherwise had limited access to these specialist services.

To mark the unveiling, Channel 7 News in Queensland ran a feature on mobile medical clinic and its impact on regional communities. The news clip can be viewed here.
