Augusta University Health (AU Health) sought to develop a strategic and comprehensive plan for actionable clinical growth.
Philips worked closely with AU Health’s management and clinical staff to identify key clinical program strategies and areas of opportunity that would allow AU Health to achieve market growth and rapidly transition to a value provider.
A Strategic Growth Plan was developed, integrating many performance improvement project recommendations. The Philips-AU Health team also established work streams to assess, recommend, and implement change initiatives for the next-level clinical service areas.
The Philips team assessed 14 clinical programs (product lines) to measure performance and identified programs with the greatest growth potential. Four clinical programs were selected for ‘deep-dive’ review:
The consultants also developed a Clinical Services Toolkit to enable AU Health to self-complete future clinical service reviews and program development for the remaining product lines.
Operational plans were developed for each of the selected programs and an overall Strategic Growth Plan was established focusing on healthcare performance improvement recommendations.
AU Health is implementing the Strategic Growth Plan including initiatives based on the project recommendations. These applications aided AU Health in moving from a fee-for-service to fee-for-value provider.
