Philips and salesforce.com team up to reshape healthcare delivery

Imagine an open, cloud-based, health platform with apps covering the continuum of care – from self-care and prevention, to diagnosis and treatment, through recovery and wellness. That’s the vision behind our new alliance with salesforce.com. It’s an idea whose time has come.

“With this strategic alliance, Philips is making great strides to deliver real-time, digital healthcare solutions,” said Frans van Houten, Chief Executive Officer of Royal Philips.

Move fast and be bold

Speed is the new currency for business and healthcare is no exception. Connecting MRIs to X-ray machines and patient monitors means the possible sharing of critical data. This data can be used to facilitate on demand, real-time collaboration between clinicians and patients, from the hospital to the home.

Our plan is to develop a cloud-based healthcare informatics platform with open APIs and SDKs, enabling collaboration and workflow, as well as integration of data from multiple sources worldwide.

Patient management will never be the same

“We have a tremendous opportunity to reshape and optimize the way healthcare is delivered.”

- Frans van Houten, CEO, Royal Philips

Open platform. New Standards.

This industry-defining healthcare technology is the result of a strategic alliance between Philips and salesforce.com. Leveraging Philips’ leading positions in medical technology, clinical applications, and clinical informatics, and salesforce.com’s leadership in enterprise cloud computing, innovation and customer engagement, this cloud platform will set new standards – and more importantly, open standards.

"We have entered a new transformative era for healthcare, and technology is enabling the industry to connect to, care for and engage with patients and each other in a profound new way,” said Marc Benioff, chairman and CEO, salesforce.com.

Early results are exciting

A new clinical application, Philips eCareCoordinator, has already been developed for the platform and will be launched soon. This connected care application will allow clinicians to collaborate and monitor 1000’s of patients in real-time.

So begins the establishment of an entire ‘ecosystem’ of innovative opportunities to help people live a much healthier lifestyle.
