    Saab and Philips Partner to Deliver World-leading Deployable Healthcare for the Australian Defence Force

    Sydney, Australia – Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA), a global leader in health technology, and Saab Australia (Saab), global leader in military defence, announced the signing of a contract for the delivery of innovative healthcare solutions as part of Australia’s deployable health capability (DHC) program, Joint Program 2060 Phase 3 (JP2060Ph3).

    Philips AED in emergency use

    The multi-year contract with Philips, is one of four strategic capability partnerships that Saab, leading Australia’s deployable health capability program, will enter for its delivery of state-of-the-art flexible and fully operational deployable hospitals to the Australian Defence Force (ADF).

    Saab has selected Philips to act as the lead provider and integrator of healthcare solutions and medical technology equipment, with an initial supporting contract starting at 2 million AUD. Over the next 18 months, as Saab completes the required JP2060 detailed design milestones with the Department of Defence, its contract with Philips is expected to grow to over $50 million AUD.

    The contract with Philips will deliver the most technologically advanced health care solutions and point of care diagnostics, enabling emergency field doctors, surgeons and clinical teams to make informed diagnostic decisions at the scene of the emergency, empowering them to deliver the best of clinical care on deployment and in the field.

    Saab has recently commenced construction of its purpose-built South East Queensland facility, which will serve as the base of operations for Australia’s DHC Program. As part of its partnership with Defence, Saab is also relocating its global Centre of Excellence from Europe to Australia.

    The delivery of JP2060 to the Australian Defence Force will enhance Australia’s clinical health care response capability by delivering more than 550 deployable health modules, equipped with life-saving healthcare solutions. Each of the modules will provide a different health function, such as pathology, intensive care, treatment and holding, resuscitation, surgery, primary dental care, imaging, and environmental health.

    The deployable health modules will support the ADF’s evolving operational requirements, including domestic and regional humanitarian deployments.
