Noise cancellation headphones

I have had mine for just over a year now, and the noise cancelling is pretty efficient for a product of this price class. Usually NC headphones are prohibitively expensive, but these are fairly priced. I used them on a few flights, with great results, but now mostly use the NC feature at work in the office. They are far from the best, and the foldable design is likely going to cause cable wear and failure in the long term, but until then, they are doing a good job. Battery life for me is 2 weeks, when I use them for a few hours a day. When the battery depletes, you can still listen to music without NC, handy.

The headphones are comfortable to wear and the sound is very clear, even when wearing hearing aids.

After using these headphones for a few months, I really like them. + for noise cancellation and price, - for sound quality if you're picky, otherwise not (the bass will be weak without NC switched on, but is boosted with NC on). I think the sound quality is good for the price. Like all NC headphones I know, there's no automatic power off, so if left on without being used, the battery will drain. Noise cancellation will work at low frequencies only, which is good and bad. On the good side, in a propeller passenger aircraft (or jet of course), you can have a comfortable conversation with a fellow passenger since voices don't get cancelled, but the bulk of aircraft noise is cancelled out. On the other hand, sounds from machine tools are only partially filtered since those sounds contain a lot of high frequencies. Even with machine tools, there is a huge reduction in the overall "hearing experience". As NC is activated, a brief electronic noise is heard, but it is only noticeable if no music is played or if no external sound are present. In all, a good pair of NC headphones that does wonders in the car, on the train or when flying.

When I got these, we didn't have AAA batteries lying around, so I went through the first one just fine (OK, oops, left it on overnight...), then found the headphones suited my purpose without enabling noise cancelling. My workplace got a bit noisier lately, so we got some decent new batteries, put one in, and (promise I have not left it on!) for some reason, the noise cancelling feature now only stops my music/computer sounds form coming through! It has been less than a week, and I am only here part time. Switch NC off, and there is no problem at all. I find it really odd, and not what I expect for what I paid.

Room for improvement in instructions. Please USE WORDS : A simple WRITTEN explanation of how to remove the battery cover (with the unclear diagram) and I would not now be using tape to hold it in place!

I feel that I have purchased a real lemon. I purchased these a month ago , from the first battery that I put in an hour later it the earphones started to sputter, that was the battery that came with it. I thought fair enough could be an old battery. I put another battery in that wasnt top of the line but was brand new and this too lasted an hour. So I purchased brand new Energisers and the same happened, two hours into my flight so the units I feel have a short in them when noise cancelling is employed even when working 97% noise reduction more like 20% I am extremely disappointed

These noise-cancelling headphones worked pretty well until just after the 1 year warranty expired. Then despite having been handled carefully throughout their life, the noise became distorted in both channels, even with brand new batteries. This was both with NC switched on and off. Emailed Philips Australia 2 weeks ago and haven't heard anything. So their support is as good as their products. I don't like leaving negative reviews, but I was hoping Philips would resolve this issue, but they didn't

I held high hopes for Philips and these headphones, but the second I take it out of the box and plug it into my phone to test the sound of that beautiful bass: very loud static noises invade my ears. This is with the noise cancelling feature turned on, and this is the very feature I bought it for. And yet my eardrums are greeted not by 97% of silence, but at least 97% of noise made up for by static and the rest of my music being murdered in the background. Dreadful.
