    Your bundle of joy is turning into such a fun little person. Nowhere is this more evident than the kitchen table. Here’s what the next few months have in store:

    Eating family meals

    Once you've introduced your child to all types of solid foods, you can start serving a small portion of your family meal.

    • Make sure the food isn’t too hot
    • Mash it or cut into very small pieces
    • Always watch for choking hazards such as whole grapes, cherry tomatoes, popcorn and chunks of carrots or hot dogs.

    Drinking independently

    Over the next year, your baby should move from a sippy cup to an open cup to help prevent tooth decay, And unless it is a particularly hot 6 months "Drinking like a grown up day", toddlers only need to drink during meals and snacks.

    Weaning

    You can continue breast or bottle feeding at night, or for comfort, as long as you and your baby) like , but aim to wean completely by 24 months. That's the age the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends to phase out the bottle, as a child who sent to bed with a bottle may be at risk for tooth decay.

    Self-feeding

    Your baby may have started with finger food or holding on to a spoon. Introduce plastic plates and bowls at mealtimes to get used to eating like Mom and Dad.

    Some babies can use his spoon or fork by 18 months, but may be be a messy eater well into the third year.   This is normal and takes time. Don't discourage playing with food— playing is practicing!
