Warming milk in a Philips Avent Natural glass bottle

    Published on 2022-03-01
Milk should be heated gradually to help preserve the valuable nutrients and vitamins in breast milk. If milk becomes too warm, nutrients and vitamins can be damaged. To help maintain the quality of your breast milk, it is important to heat the milk in a safe and controlled way.

Please allow for gradual heating if you have a cold bottle (e.g. from the refrigerator). For instructions on how to warm up your bottles in the Avent bottle warmer, please consult your bottle warmer's User Manual.

    • We do not recommend placing a bottle with cold contents directly into hot water, as this can result in uneven heating.
    • We do not recommend using a microwave to warm up your baby's food or drinks. Microwaves might alter the quality of food/drinks and destroy valuable nutrients. Furthermore, microwaves do not heat evenly, and they might leave "hot spots" that would not be noticeable to you but could burn your baby's mouth.
    • When heating liquid or food in the microwave, please only place the container in the microwave, without the screw ring, teat or cap. Constantly stir heated food to ensure even heat distribution and check the temperature before serving.
