Frequently Asked Questions

Warming milk in a Philips Avent Natural glass bottle

Find out how to warm up milk in a Philips Avent Natural glass bottle.

Milk should be heated gradually to help preserve the valuable nutrients and vitamins in breast milk. If milk becomes too warm, nutrients and vitamins can be damaged. To help preserve the quality of your breast milk, it is important to heat the milk in a safe and controlled way.

If you have a cold bottle (e.g. from the refrigerator), please allow for gradual heating

  • For instructions on how to warm your bottles in the Avent bottle warmer, please consult your bottle warmer’s User Manual
  • Placing a bottle with cold contents directly into hot water is not recommended, as this can result in uneven heating
  • We do not recommend using a microwave to warm up your baby's food or drinks. Microwaves might alter the quality of food/drinks and destroy valuable nutrients. Furthermore, microwaves do not heat evenly and they might leave “hot spots” that would not be noticeable to you but that could burn your baby.
  • When heating up liquid or food in the microwave, please only place the container (not the screw ring, teat or cap) in the microwave. Always stir heated food to ensure even heat distribution and check the temperature before serving.
