There are several reasons why your Lumea might produce a burning smell during use, including not removing hair from your skin prior to treatment. Other causes could include dirt on your skin or on your Lumea's light exit window or attachment.

It is essential to have hair-free skin to avoid burning your hair, which causes an unpleasant smell and can cause pain or skin burns. You can remove your hair by shaving, epilating or waxing. If you choose to wax, wait at least 24 hours before using Lumea.
Clean and dry your skin before your Lumea treatment. Any residue on your skin can be burnt by the Lumea's flash and produce a burning smell.
Check if your attachment is clean before each treatment. Clean your attachments and the glass of the light exit window after each treatment. Dirty attachments or glass can produce an unpleasant or burning smell and reduce the effectiveness of your Lumea.
