Philips, a global leader in health technology, and Edith Cowan University Australia (ECU) invite healthcare professionals to register for the Early Obstetric Ultrasound Short Course on Saturday, 15 November 2025 at ECU Joondalup Campus. This one-day, hands-on and evidence-based program is designed to strengthen clinicians’ ultrasound skills for accurate and timely early pregnancy assessment.
The course is tailored for clinicians who want to advance their first-trimester scanning expertise. Covering pregnancy dating, fetal viability, multiple gestation, and bleeding in early pregnancy, it combines practical insights with immersive, hands-on learning to help participants build confidence and apply critical knowledge effectively in clinical settings. “First-trimester ultrasound is essential for confirming viability, detecting complications early, and improving outcomes for mothers and babies,” said Professor Moira Sim, Executive Dean of the School of Medical and Health Sciences at ECU. “This course blends expert instruction with practical training so clinicians can confidently apply these skills in real-world practice.” “The partnership with ECU reaffirms Philips’ commitment to improving people’s lives through meaningful innovation,” said Denilson Kuratomi, Head of Ultrasound for Philips APAC. “This represents a long-term investment by both companies to deliver world-class education that will benefit healthcare professionals and patients.” This course stems from the November 2024 Philips–ECU partnership aimed at closing ultrasound knowledge gaps and expanding continuous professional development opportunities. Together, the organisations are developing a series of innovative short courses and workshops, such as obstetric ultrasound, point-of-care applications, vascular access, and cardiovascular modules, to deliver expert-led training for healthcare professionals across Asia-Pacific.
