These new headphones, bought on eBay, were sent in a sealed, never-opened original blister package.
They work as normal headphones, but there is zero noise cancellation when this is turned on. I am an electronics engineer, so I have no doubts on this. Tested numerous times in different environments with several different new AAA cells.
I wrote and sent a detailed email to Philips about it 3 weeks ago - no response. A faulty product with no support.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Terry747 Great noise reduction of aircraft engine noise
I purchased this unit specifically for the reduction of jet engine noise on a recent flight. I was quite impressed at being able to listen to the quiet parts of a film. It does take a bit of fiddling with the earpiece while listening with the noise reduction turned on but it makes a remarkable difference. After wearing these for an hour or so I was amazed at the loud engine noise after removal. This product is ideal in a constant frequency noise environment.
My only critisisim is of the opening of the battery compartment. An improved design would make it a lot easier.

I will keep of choosing Philips for this product but would like to see some improvements:
- In ear silicone buds can depart from speaker body in ear. A slightly deeper recess overlap would be better as this is annoying.
- I have had two sets so far. The wiring over time is prone to breakage. Realise this is universal but better solutioin may be worth the higher price and these are not throw away cost compared with the free set on the airplane!
- bud material does not let your skin contatct area breath. Is there a more breathable polymer available. Long exposure can iritate.
- could the battery unit be made smaller / lighter and charged from a phone or USB?
Otherwise these ear buds continue to offer excellent value and are clearly efective for blocking out / cancelling airplane engine/wind droning type noise to allow much better listening quality.

They do not work! The package says up to 75% noise reduction.
Without music on you can just make out a slight reduction in background sound. With music on I noticed no difference at all with the noise cancel switched on or off.
The sound quality is not that good either.

No effect from switching noise cancelling mode OFF or ON- is it faulty and 'noise cancelling' the main signal also?

First thing I check for when flying. Put them in on the tarmac at one end don't take them off 'till I get to the other end (9 - 15 hours#. They do exactly what they say they will do. Battery lasts about 60 hours.
Just ordered my 3rd set in 8 years . but I did break my first set by getting up from my seat forgetting I was wearing them!
Remember to pass them over the top of your ear from behind your ear #don't just hang them down your front) other wise they do drop out.

Rated 4 out of 5 by dddddjjjjj these are good if used in the right places
Previous review is unfair. These are not meant to cancel noise in the variable sound environment such as while jogging. Use them on a plane journey and you will notice a huge reduction in background noise.

The noise cancelling does work, but the picture of Noise Cancelling box to headphones is misleading, this box has to contain an AAA battery and in my case is actually a lot larger than the iPod I use. Not what you want to be having bouncing around your neck while out on a jog.
