I had used a cheap rotary razor previously on holiday when luggage was lost.. It gave a fantastic shave so I bought an expensive 9000 six months ago. Initially it gave a fantastic shave and I liked that it was quiet. I brush it out every day and regularly use razor lubricant. But now I find after just six months I have to dig out one of my really old razors to get rid of the stubble that the 9000 leaves behind. The razor design is fine so it must be dud blades. Would not mind if they were cheap, but I am not going to spend one third the price of a new razor on blades every six months. Sorry Phillips just not good enough.

Like many other reviews, the shaver was good for about 3 months then the blades were dull even with regular cleaning with the brush tool and also the cleaning/charging unit. Now I have had it 6 months, it is about as effective as a dull 2 blade razor.
It is disappointing the the unit cost so much and then new shaving heads need to purchased withing 6 months. I don't grow much facial hair anyway and use it daily to keep the 5 o'clock shadow at bay.
If anybody was considering a razor, at this point even though its a nice design, great that its water resistant and the cleaning station is really nice, because the most important parts fail quickly (the blades) I would suggest staying clear of the Philips 9000

Rated 2 out of 5 by JakeP Blades go blund far too quickly.
Like the other users, I have found the blades go blunt in under 6 months. I clean the blades each day as per the instructions and do not have a heavy stubble. I have not had this issue with my previous Philips electric shavers. The cut while the blades are new is fantastic but they do not last as they should.

When new the shaver was great but now 9 months later the blades have lost there sharpness & takes forever to have a shave. Now I need to buy new blades after only 9 months .... not happy

Initially great to use. Blades started lose their sharpness within 3 months. Having to replace the blades totally after 9 months as it is taking me 3 times as long to do a shave.

Even though I have cleaned the shaver according to the manufacturers instruction AND regularly lubricated the heads with the Shaver-Shops special formula it is totally blunt after 8 months.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Chapps70 SH90 doesn't make the cut
The series 9000 shaver is a fantastic product- no doubt about it. The SH90 shaving head however is initially a close shaving experience on equal par with a razor blade, however after a period of 5 months, there is a fast deterioration of blade sharpness and after a 6 month period, it is virtually blunt and you are required to press the shaver quite firmly against your skin for any cutting of a satisfactory nature. This is quite disappointing considering there is a requirement by Philips to change every 2 years. This product doesn't last 6 months, so I can't foresee it lasting 2 years.
