Philips & O’Neill team up to create new range of durable headphones

August 15, 2011

Sydney, Australia – Philips has joined forces with famed surf brand O’Neill to launch a new line of headphones designed to withstand the rigors of an active lifestyle. The new range of headphones offer long-lasting durability and complete comfort so you can enjoy the music that fuels you every day, for as long as you want, no matter what you put them through.

The Philips | O’Neill Headphones range features four different styles, each completely unique and simple in design, yet able to meet the demands of those who live life to the fullest.

Inspired by the heavy-duty materials and styling of wetsuits, The Stretch headphones (SHO9561) – the toughest in the new line-up – deliver high performance sound wherever you take them. Both impact and high stress-crack resistant, The Stretch model retains flexibility and strength for a whole new level in headphone resilience.

Made of TR55LX, an ultra-durable and temperature-resistant material, The Stretch keeps up with even the most ardent lifestyles. Built to withstand extreme conditions, it boasts a surface hardness six times greater than the polycarbonate commonly used in many headphones, meaning it maintains its toughness and durability, whether you subject it to extreme heat or cold of up to -250C.

The Snug (SHO8800) model combines resilient construction with stylish design, resulting in flat-folding headphones that deliver flawless comfort and sound. With powerful 40mm drivers to deliver impressive sound and intelligent design elements such as cable stress relief providing enhanced durability, The Snug are a perfect companion no matter how rough you are with them. Sound isolating super soft ear cushions and an adjustable fit mean you can wear the headphones for hours on end, and the flat folding design makes them incredibly easy to store and carry.

The Philips O’Neill range also includes two impressive in-ear models, The Covert (SHO4507) and The Specked (SHO9552), offering the same sound quality and durability in a compact and stylish design. The Covert is a discreet bud with deceptively powerful sound impact and iPhone control, while The Specked includes a range of three striking colored in-ear buds, with tough yet stylish tangle-free cords for longer listening experiences.
